WWI Royal Navy Motor Boat Reserve Cap Badge

A scarce example of the cap badge of the RNMBR. Created by the Admiralty in early 1914 under the auspices of the RNVR, drawing upon civilian yacht club members who were experienced motor-yachtsmen. With the advent of war in August of 1914 the Royal Naval Motor Boat Reserve was incorporated into the Auxiliary Patrol. Once war was declared the Auxiliary Patrol was put to work in clearing German minefields and in anti U-Boat activities.
